I’m interested in what you’re doing - how can I find out if you’re in my area?

We are currently only in Tulsa, Oklahoma, but looking to expand into other states and cities. If you are interested in bringing Surround Church to your area, let us know by contacting us here.

What does a gathering look like?

Every church gathers at least once a week in a home. We come together to break bread, worship, pray, and discuss scripture. We want the scripture that was read during that week to act as the sermon and facilitate conversation. We believe that if you have spent quality time meditating and enjoying God and His Word, then you will have something to offer in the conversation.

I would like to get connected to Surround Church - how do I do that?

We currently have a large gathering at the end of each month that you are more than welcome to check out. Contact us to find out where and when the next one will be.

Why the name ‘Surround?’

Surround is a multifaceted name. First, it comes from the story of Elisha found in II Kings 6. Elisha’s servant wakes up to find an entire army outside waiting to seize Elisha. When the servant informs Elisha, Elisha prays that his servant’s eyes will be opened to see that Heaven’s armies are surrounding them. We love the imagery of our God surrounding us even when our current circumstances don’t seem ideal. Second, we not only want our churches to surround one another but also to surround their cities and communities with God’s love.

Are my gifts to Surround Church tax deductible?

What’s the difference between surround ministries and surround church?

Surround Ministries is the main entity that houses all current and future initiatives, while Surround Church is one of those current initiatives.

Does Surround Church have a leadership team or elders that oversee the church at large?

We are building out a team for oversight as we grow. These individuals will make sure that we are maintaining a Biblically sound church. In addition to this, our pastors will bring periodic teaching to keep unity among the Surround Church family as well as be available to answer any questions that arise.

I’ve read about your structure, and it makes no mention of kids or students - do you not have dedicated kids and Student ministries?

Great question! No, we do not. We don’t see any separation between kids, teens, and adults in scripture. In fact, “Sunday school” (or kids’ ministry) is a relatively new concept in relation to the start of the church nearly 2,000 years ago. Even newer than that is “Youth Ministry.” We believe the best thing for our kids and students is for them to be engaged in a loving community of believers whenever possible and for their parents to impart Biblical wisdom. Since every home’s makeup is different, we leave it up to the individual church of what they choose to do with younger children (as one home may have no kids, another with 2 teens, and another with 5 kids under the age of 2). Some families take turns watching the younger kids.

I noticed a few references to francis chan - do you have any affiliation with him?

The short answer is no. We were in the process of writing out what Surround Church was going to look like based off of our convictions found in scripture, when Francis Chan released a new book titled, Letters to the Church. The content was nearly identical to what we had been discussing for over a year. It was as if he’d been listening in on all our conversations (that or it was the Holy Spirit). You can find out more about his book on Amazon and more about their church at WeAreChurch.com.
